Harsiddhi Temple Ujjain

According to the Skanda Purana, Goddess Chandi got the name “Harsiddhi” after a special event. One day, when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were on Mount Kailash, two demons named Chand and Prachand tried to enter. Shiva called upon Chandi to stop them, and she destroyed them. Pleased with her, Shiva gave her the title “the one who wins over all.”

The temple was rebuilt during the Maratha period, and the two tall pillars with lamps are a unique part of Maratha art. During Navaratri, these lamps are lit, creating a beautiful sight.

Inside the temple, there is a sacred Sri Yantra, a symbol of power (Shakti). It is believed that Goddess Sati’s elbow fell here after her body was burned.
